DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a steroidal hormone produced by the adrenal gland. DHEA is converted into other male or female hormones, as needed depending on one’s age, gender, and health status.

Internal production of DHEA declines with age, particularly after the age of 40. Maintenance of normal DHEA levels is associated with maintaining healthy mood, libido, and bone health. DHEA helps maintain healthy immune function and cardiovascular health.
